The Web Design Process

The web development process isn't necessarily a difficult one; it just takes time to figure out where to start and then to refine the design and ideas until you craft what you want.

Inter-Quest follows roughly the same process when working with a client to develop a new website for them, or to re-design an existing website.

The first step is to think about what you want to get out of your website.

Ask Yourself These Questions

If you are having trouble figuring out how your website should look, or what it should do, ask yourself these questions.

• What are some websites you like (including competitors)?
• What do you like about them?
• What are your company colors?
• Who is your target market?
• What do you want to give your customers on the website?

Time to Get Started

After you've thought about it for awhile, or if you need some help getting started, you should consult with Inter-Quest. Inter-Quest will start by beginning to understand your business, or your plan for a business, to get an idea of the overall goal of your website. You should be able to identify the goals you wish to meet with your website, who you want to attract (target market), and the type and amount of information you want to appear on your website.

You will then recieve a detailed proposal outlining how your goals will be met. The proposal will then be refined until it meets your needs and fits in your budget. Once you accept the proposal, Inter-Quest will start drafting the design of your website. You will be presented with the design mockups, and if any changes are requested, the mockups will be refined until they are just right.

Once the design is accepted, development will begin and your website will begin to take shape. During this time, you will be able to view your website as it is being brought to life. It is during this time that you should give feedback to Inter-Quest as development progresses.

If you are having administration tools developed, you will be able to test those out and get comfortable using them while your website is being developed.

Once the website development is complete, you will review everything for errors or omissions. If everything is good to go, the website will be pushed live on the Internet. Then you can sit back and wait for some detailed website analytics to flow in.

Each website Inter-Quest develops includes some search engine optimization. This includes creating a sitemap that tells the search engines about your website, as well as submitting your website to Google, Yahoo and Bing search engines.
